Celebrating the Journey

When we face times of major transition in our lives we often get so focused on our "big picture" goals that we forget to enjoy the journey. That's the story of my life! I get so stuck working on my "master plan" that I miss the moment. It has often been a struggle to detach from the details.  When working towards major change and transition, getting stuck in the change can bring frustration and at times discouragement if you don't take time to step away from the vision occasionally. It becomes a vortex and you overlook the progress you've made along the way. Have you ever heard the saying, "you can't see the forrest for the trees?" Who wants to go through the forrest and MISS the beauty of its surroundings because you're so focused on what's right in front of you? The best way to take in the "forrest" in the midst of the "trees" is to celebrate your small successes along the way. Learn to enjoy the journey by celebrating the milestones in your transition.

Tomorrow is my birthday! I decided with all that's going on in my life that I need to stop and celebrate my journey. The journey to Fly Free isn't always easy but when I look back on where I started, I can't help but be ecstatic about my progress. I invite you to enjoy my pre-birthday moments and I encourage you to choose one way to "celebrate your journey!" Post your ideas in the comment section and let's "Fly Free!"

Happy Transitioning!

The Truth About Change

There are plenty of people that sell motivation in a bottle. They wrap it up and tell you everything you want to hear, but the truth is...change is not easy. Change is not a destination, it's a journey. Along that journey you'll have good days, bad days, days where you feel like you are on top of the mountain and days where you question how the heck you can move forward. The truth is, change is challenging. It stretches your faith, increases your knowledge and shakes up your relationships, BUT if you press through it the rewards are well worth the investment. Here are some ways to navigate through the highs and lows of change.

  • Develop a vision of change that serves as your mental picture of the new life you're going after
    • It's important that you can SEE your change
    • Grab some card stock, makers, magazines and markers and make your vision board
  • Break your change into small achievable goals with an action plan
  • Designate a group of friends that can support you through the highs and lows of change
  • Get a theme song!
    • There's nothing like a playlist that can soothe the beast of change when you're  frustrated or needing motivation
  • Find some activities that you enjoy for days when you need to relieve the stress of change (I enjoy a good run or a round of youtube karaoke)

Now that you have some practical steps for managing change, it's time to start dreaming. Imagine the life you deserve and go for it. Change may not be easy but it is ACHIEVABLE. With every step you are clipping your wings to...FLY FREE!

Are you Flying Free?

What is FLY FREE?

What is flying free EXACTLY you might ask. Fly Free is a Momentum Movement captured through music, spoken word and creative writing that initially begun as my personal method for managing through my own journey of transition. For three years, I dreamed about owning multiple billion dollar conglomerate corporations, traveling the world inspiring and motivating others, planting organizations to help people live their dream and living a life without limits. The disappointing thing was that there were limitations all around me with the greatest of them all being stuck in a controlling and abusive environment.

Over those three years I constantly fought the thought of breaking free  until I realized that my fear of people had become greater than my reverence for God's greater plan for my life. It was in that season, I begin to sing a song that vented my frustrations and gave me the motivation to leave my limited life behind and begin of journey to find me again. As I continue through my journey of unraveling the impressions and influences on my life, I have found so many others that have and are experiencing limitations in life that keep them from the life of their dreams. I realized that I'm not the only one that could use music and inspiration to help them through their personal journey towards change. Every superwoman needs a theme song, let Fly Free give you that song.

The Fly Free project consists of four phases: music project, novel, inspirational product line and empower tours. The project is a record of my break away and healing process so I have chosen to refrain from publicly announcing release dates. When it's ready, it'll be released and the proceeds will go to creating a scholarship fund for survivors of abuse and building the first Birthing Room International, a center for dream planning and mapping.

What's In It For Me?

Every successful person has a story. A story of beating the odds, overcoming obstacles, being resilient through it all. There is a story inside of you, just waiting to be written. A story of how you didn't let your situation or environment define you. A story of facing fears, finding faith and getting to a new place in life. I encourage you to follow my journey on the blog. Be inspired and start your own Fly Free momentum movement. This will be a resource but you possess the well of strength needed to draw from to clip your wings and FLY FREE!

Finding the Courage to FLY FREE

Take a journey to a place,
where you can fly,
fly away.
Free from opinion,
free from pain,
let's soar, let's fly away.
Excerpt from Fly Free written by danielaGabrielle, produced by Robert "Musikman" Laster

These are the dynamic words that set my life into a whirlwind one year ago when I ventured to abandon the world of control, abuse, loop-sided relationships and a load of other circumstances that limited my "flight" capability. I traded limitation and emotional shackles in for a life of freedom. I opted out of ordinary and embraced extraordinary. Has the road been easy? Certainly not. Courage is not life without fear. Courage is the boldness to press THROUGH fear. I believe that the courage to conquer your own personal limitations, whatever they may be, resides with in you. Recognizing that "higher, wider, deeper" is completely achievable is the first step. Imagine yourself living a life without limits. Nothing can stand in your way. Join me in a movement to clip the things holding you back and together let's...FLY FREE!
